“In 2010, at the age of 11, I founded my first business — a summer camp for local children, run in my backyard. By the end of my high school career, Kiddie Kamp had grown to over 100 kids and had created an interconnected network in my small community. This network allowed me to build something so valuable — trust. The connection between a parent and a caregiver is something so important. Over the years, I have learned this from the perspective of a parent, as I’ve provided countless recommendations, and of a sitter, as I’ve taken care of countless children.

In 2019, I took this knowledge and used it to found Tandem — the free marketplace for care services. Tandem is a free platform that connects families with caregivers based on our core values: mission, communication, respect, and performance.”

Tandem is the only free marketplace for care services and is revolutionizing the way that providers get paid. We connect families with reliably-vetted providers, and provide quality jobs to users; we want to create long-lasting relationships on the basis of trust.

Tandem values parent-provider equality; decisions should be made between the two parties, not by our organization. We allow open communication between parents and providers once we have facilitated the connection. Parents decide what they want to pay their provider based on the particular scope of the job, and providers set their rate range so that we can appropriately match the two. Our job is to match families with the best provider for their needs, encourage communication, and enable seamless payments!

How to become a Tandem provider?

Download the Tandem app to sign-up! We will check your reference and verify your background check, then you’ll receive an email to set up your TandemPay portal. Jobs catered to your availability and qualifications will show up under the “Available Jobs” section of the app for you to accept or decline. Be sure to accept quickly as Tandem works on a first-come, first-serve basis. After accepting a job, you can message the parent in your app messenger! If you’re applying to a weekly job, you’ll interview with families before being hired!

Tandem Pay

Tandem is revolutionizing the way that childcare providers get paid by families. Think of your TandemPay portal as a bank; you can save, spend, or transfer money to other accounts. Parents will even have the option to add a tip!

As soon as your reference and background check are verified, you will receive an email with instructions to set up your TandemPay account and order your personalized debit card — head over to a laptop or computer and fill in the required information!

Once you’ve set up your digital wallet on TandemPay, your brand new Tandem debit card will immediately be shipped to you! Your card will arrive within 7–10 days — until then, feel free to spend your earnings through your digital wallet or online. Everything you earn through Tandem will automatically be deposited onto your new debit card, with no extra steps on your end!

You can use your Tandem debit card anywhere Visa cards are accepted — at stores and restaurants, to pay bills, and more! The Tandem card acts as a normal debit card.

Want a full-time job?

Head to your profile to check off “part-time” or “full time” depending on your preferences. After you’ve been reference checked, Tandem will send over job opportunities that we think you’d be interested in!

Apply to the jobs you want, and you’ll get a notification when can start messaging the family. We recommend offering them your resume or setting up a call.

Once the family decides which nanny is right for them, you’ll get a notification telling you whether or not you got the job!
